Effective February 1, under section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, officers will be able to issue fines of $750 for failure to self-isolation if tested positive, waiting for test results, or have been exposed to close contact. (2020 02 01 WECHU Order RE Isolation and Set Fines).

Trudeau suspending Caribbean vacation travel; will require all incoming air travellers to quarantine in hotels
Prime Minister Trudeau announced that Canadian-originating flights to Mexico and the Caribbean will be grounded on January 31 as the government seeks to halt the spread of COVID-19. The measure will be in effect until April 30. Temporary foreign workers remain exempt from these restrictions.
At this time, growers are being reassured the flow of temporary foreign workers into Canada will continue. Additional support to increase PCR testing capacities is underway from governments in Mexico, Guatemala, and the Caribbean. The goal is to accommodate the arrival of our workers safely.
Premier also made an announcement this afternoon under the order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health has issued a Section 22 order under Section 77.1 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, mandating on-arrival testing for international travellers at Toronto Pearson International Airport effective at 12:01 p.m. on February 1, 2021, and exploring additional testing measures at Pearson International Airport and land border crossings in the coming weeks. This is aimed to protect the spread of COVID-19 as the federal government implements their travel restrictions later this month. Temporary foreign workers remain exempt from these restrictions.
