New Government of Canada Quarantine Requirements Effective March 21, 2021

by Nathan Couvillon

Please note that TFW’s will NOT be subjected to the 3-day quarantine at a Government Authorized Accommodation (GAA) providing they travel directly to their place of quarantine by private transportation and are only accompanied with others that have traveled with them to Canada. TFWs who will need to travel by public means to a secondary location upon arrival in Canada will be required to stay in a GAA and await the results of their COVID-19 test.

Day-10 take-home tests are also required to be completed during quarantine. Workers are not permitted to leave their place of quarantine until a negative test result has been received. Updated videos have been loaded to the Switch Health website that include close captioning in 8 different languages. This featured can be accessed by pressing the “CC” button found in the right corner of the video screen. The Government of Canada is committed to working with the Public Health Agency of Canada to address the operational challenges for many employers and temporary foreign workers with respect to the COVID-19 At Home Specimen Collection kit (test kit) test to be taken at day 10 during the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

Further details will be provided once they are made available.
