Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) entering Canada are RANDOMLY selected by Canada Border Services to receive a day one Covid-19 PCR test to be administered at the Switch Health site located in terminals 1 & 3 at Pearson Airport.
Temporary Foreign Workers receive the attached information sheet (SEE BELOW), prior to clearing the secure area within the terminal, TFW’s may lose the form but the intent is for them to keep it for their first 14 days in Canada. The information sheet provides the guideline for FULLY VACCINATED TFW’s who are randomly selected to receive a day one test and what their course of quarantine is in relation to the day one test results they receive.
As the employer of arriving TFW’s do not expect to receive anything that will clearly state whether a TFW will, YES, need to quarantine or, NO, they will not. The best way to determine this, is to ask – did you receive a PCR (nasal swab) test when you arrived in Canada, if yes, the TFW is required to quarantine as per the guideline in the attached information sheet. An asterisk is placed beside relevant paragraphs.
You will note in this information sheet the statement that reads – If you do not receive a test result your quarantine will end in 14 days. I would suggest by at least day five (5) with no test results for fully vaccinated TFW’s in quarantine, you should contact the following individual at Switch Health.
Employers may send a DIRECT EMAIL to Carla Barrios CBarrios@SwitchHealth.ca on issues relating to quarantine, your switch health account, etc., if you wish to copy email@example.com please do so.
TFW’s arriving who are partially or unvaccinated with or without a day one test are required to quarantine for 14 days and should arrive with a day 8 test kit, if not, contact Switch Health to request one. TFW’s in this group should be quarantined separately from all other workers.
TFW’s arriving that are fully vaccinated with NO day one test, can begin work immediately. Please ask the workers.
