Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream

The Agriculture Clean Technology (ACT) Program targets projects that:

  • Adopt clean technology
  • Reduce Carbon emissions
  • Promote Sustainable Growth

There are 2 streams:

1. Innovation Stream

    • Applied research and development of clean technologies
    • Piloting and evaluating clean technologies
    • Demonstration and knowledge and technology transfer activities
    • Commercializing and scaling up clean technologies
    • Other activities that support the Research and Innovation Stream as determined by the program

2. Adoption Stream

    • Energy efficient improvements
    • Precision agriculture
    • Bioeconomy solutions

What is provided?

  • 50/50 cost share up to $2 Million per project
  • Maximum $5 Million per recipient
  • Possible 60/40 cost share (woman, youth, age < 35, indigenous, minority, have disability)
  • Maximum of 75% stacking between Federal, Provincial and Municipal sources

Project Examples:

  • Biodigesters
  • Efficient boilers
  • Heat pumps
  • Bioplastics
  • Research, development, and piloting of clean tech
